Losing Lynne…
Courage is not the absence of fear, but simply moving on with dignity despite that fear. – Pat Riley

So I’ve decided to participate in Brandon’s Weekend Warrior Challenge.  I originally saw this on Erin’s site .  The weekends are always a challenge for me and let’s just say that this past weekend weighed me down, LITERALLY!  The weekends are supposed to be a time to relax and also to catch up on things that have been neglected (kind of a contradiction, huh???)  This weekend will also be an extra challenge because my  husband is preparing to go to Minnesota next week (BRRRRRRRRRRR……)

So…  to become an official Weekend Warrior this is what I have committed to do the following things this weekend:

1.  Complete 1 full 5K distance on Saturday or Sunday

2.  Exercise a minimum of 3 times (45 minutes or more) between Friday – Sunday

3.  When going out to eat with Michael this weekend I will plan ahead what I will have and will log it in mydailyplate.com before I got out to eat (NOT AFTER!)

4.  I will log all food I eat and I will log all snacks (for me this is the compulsive “taste test” or “bite of Alicia’s leftover lunch/dinner/snack…  I have to get a grip on the little “sneak snacks” because they are piling up on me lately.

Sound like a plan???  I think so.  I’m looking forward to giving this a shot.

I was particularly proud of myself because I got my butt out of bed on time this morning to walk/jog.  I was also proud because I had my fastest time yet (15:01 pace).  I was also excited because I figured out how much I jogged in comparison to how much I walked.  I jogged .7 miles out of 1.63 miles total.  This means that during my workout I  jogged 43% of the time!  In my head when I was doing it I thought I ran about 1/3 of the distance.  I could have never done that back in July when I started on this journey.  I have come so far.  I felt so good when I was done this morning.

Oh yes, one more thing.  I LOVED ERIN’S NUT-BUTTER BLOG ENTRY.  Charles, can you imagine this with macadamia nuts?  I fully intend to make my own nut butter some day.  I will have to get a food processor first.  That would be something handy to add to my kitchen.

Well… I’m going to bed.  Tomorrow comes too early and I am determined that I will get back up at 3:45 AM to hit the gym.  Unfortunately I suspect it will be too windy and cool to run around the block.  :(

I’ve joined the challenge too, because I’ve noticed that I rarely do exercise on the weekend. The only time I do is if I’m doing a 5K or if I’ve got something planned w/you. So yeah, this challenge is perfect for me and will likely help me push through the last few weeks of the challenge we’re in!

Your goals sound reasonable to me.

Hear that? That’s me cheering you on!

You have great goals for the Weekend Warrior Challenge. I especially like logging what you eat BEFORE you go to the restaurant, so you are committed to making smart choices.

I’m really impressed with your level of exercise. As you know, I’m slowly increasing my exercise, and I look forward to doing as much as you. Great job!

Hey, thanks for the pingback! I’m so glad you’re hopping on board with the Weekend Warrior challenge! It sounds like it’s going to be a pretty popular thing!

I really love your idea of logging your food BEFORE you eat it – that is GENIUS! :-)

Thanks for stopping by my blog and thanks for your comments. I guess I should update my blog a bit more though and will soon do a post that won’t be so good. :-( Dealing with a lot of issues, like my Mom’s recent passing. That has caused my eating to get out of control and all previous progress lost. But this is not about me, it’s your blog. What great goals and a lot of ambition you have as well. I am sure you’ll accomplish all that you set out to do. I’m very impressed with your determination. It would be an honor to have you add me to your blogroll. I am so deeply humbled and I will do the same with yours. Have a great and hard working week-end.

  7. Good goals for the challenge … good luck with the running, it’s hard that I know for sure. You guys are making me wish I had set a bigger running goal now.

  8. Keep up the good work, I like your writing.
